IN THE DM’S: Straight Leg Jeans

I get it, the search for the perfect pair of jeans is often more than not a humbling experience when you’re set on one particular style. What works for your body shape and style evolves over time and with so many denim types it can be a hard task to replace your old faithful pair.

You can’t deny that owning a great pair of jeans takes the effort out of pulling together an outfit, whether you’re on a night out, going into the office or shopping at the farmers market, you can be sure that straight leg jeans will be your new denim bff. Be it a mid rise, low rise or high rise – one thing’s for certain is they are the most versatile for any wardrobe.

GLASSONS, Low Rise Straight Leg

Size 6-14

An affordable option with 5 star reviews!

WITCHERY, Super High Rise Jean

Size 4-20

My preference is denim with at least 2% elastane to offer comfort rather than 100% cotton. This one offers that with rave reviews.

LEVI’S, Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans

Size 23-30

A cult fave but only 1% elastane. I would personally size up for my hip shape.

COTTON ON, Stretch Wide Leg

Size 6-24

For curve sizing, these are heavily reduced on The Iconic, they have high ratings on the Cotton On site (where they are full price)!

THRILLS, Pulp Jeans

Size 6-14

Thrills are known to suit small waists and wider hip shapes.

UNISON, Classic Straight Fit

Size 4-16

For a classic high rise fit with minimal stretch.

style advice

My top tip for styling straight legs or wide legs are to keep your shoes simple and allow your jeans to shine.

1. If you’re opting for a straight leg jean, tuck an oversized button up shirt and roll the sleeves up to bring some balance. Complete the look with a pair of flat sandals for a polished day time look.

2. When styling a full length pair of jeans, we want to keep the attention on the denim. Pair it with a heeled boot in winter or a pair of pointed shoes and a belt for some interest.

3. If you’re on the petite side, try a cropped length that grazes the ankle, tuck in a t-shirt and pair it with strappy heels or ballet flats and a blazer for a day in the office.

4. Prefer sneakers? Try a cropped jacket.

Happy hunting!
