style advice: Shein.com review.

Wearing: Shein top and Shein Blazer.

I recently styled a few pieces from website SheIn on IG, an online store ALWAYS on sale with the most on trend pieces at dirt cheap prices. Sounds too good to be true? I thought so too.

I first bought from SheIn a few years ago and was so disappointed with most of the items that I didn’t mention the website to you guys at all, even if everything was affordable (like, ‘everything under $40’ affordable cos it’s always on sale!). A quick Google search will show that many people had the same, if not worse, experience.

However, a few months ago I came across their Instagram again and saw the site was still going strong. Curiosity made me give them another go and I’m so glad I did. My recent purchases have all gone smoothly thanks to the following tips:

1. ALWAYS read the reviews for the item. Not just the star rating but the actual comments. An item can be 5/5 stars but if the review mentions anything about being transparent, or cheap material for example, I pass. Item has no reviews? Pass!

2. Know your measurements. And get to know the model, too. On the right of the product photo there’s always a detailed sizing guide for that particular item (rather than a generic chart for the whole site) along with product description models measurements- this aspect particular has been awesome for gauging fit.

3. Order well in advance because just the SHIPPING TIME alone is 7-12 days. As the website states: ‘commence from the date of shipping, rather than the date of order’. So, by the time that pretty dress for that event this weekend has finally been delivered the party has happened, the hungover has been cured and you’ve done it all again 3 times over. Order early, or save your last minuet party purchases for sites like The Iconic (3 hr delivery ftw).

4. Opt for wrap style or loose fitting pieces. These will be more forgiving if you get the sizing wrong. This doesn’t mean ignore all other styles but it’s a good rule to use early on if you’re not sure about sizes. I’ve included a bodycon dress in my picks below but the reviews (those reviews really are a god-send!) told me the material was of good quality and worth a go.

So hopefully I haven’t scared you away with all of the above! It might sound like a lot of work but the winners are worth it in the end- in fact, there’s a blouse from my very fist purchase years ago that I still wear today. To start you off I’ve gone through countless reviews and rounded up some of the best pieces below. Let me know how you go, would love to hear your experiences!
